Amy Donahue
I see (mostly adult) patients primarily for ophthalmology and endocrinology indications (including differences of sexual development) as well as in the hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) Center for Excellence clinic. I also see patients in other growing areas such as nephrology, otolaryngology (for hearing loss), and in very specific situations, pharmacogenetics. In these specialty clinics, I help patients understand and navigate their genetic testing options and support their values and goals. As part of the clinical care team, I review family and personal history with patients to help clarify risks. I also draw on my background as a medical librarian in addition to my genetic counseling experience to provide education on the genetic aspects of disease and to be a resource to patients and their families. I am also involved with the Master of Science in Genetic Counseling program in the MCW Graduate School and previously held leadership roles in the development stages of the program.
