Andrew McCarty
Andy has always focused on the use of alternative methods of obtaining a family history and the potential telehealth has to improve access to genetics healthcare and wellness. This passion for breaking barriers to genetic counseling services through the use of telehealth is what inspired Andy to launch Clover Genetics. His firsthand experience with the psychosocial aspects involved in the critical process of educating patients and families on genetic disease is what drew Andy to genetic counseling. Andy helps patients feel supported in taking an active role in their wellness. Andy has clinical experience working in numerous areas of genetics specialties including pediatrics, oncology, and neuromuscular disorders, among others, in both academic hospital settings and private practice environments. He is an active member of the local Pittsburgh Genetics community including a faculty appointment as a supervisor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health where he mentors students and lectures to interested groups. He is well published in both scientific journals and book chapters. When he’s not working, Andy loves rollerblading, nature, gardening, and being outdoors!
