Whether looking for a primary care doctor, a therapist or a specialist, everyone deserves a healthcare provider who they can be open and honest with—free from fear of stigma or bias. 
The LGBTQ+ Healthcare Directory is a free, searchable database of all kinds of doctors, medical professionals and healthcare providers knowledgeable and sensitive to the unique health needs of LGBTQ+ people in the USA and Canada.

A healthcare provider is an individual health professional licensed to provide healthcare diagnosis and treatment services which may include medication, surgery and medical devices. We use the term broadly throughout the site to refer to any medical or wellness professional, such as: doctor, nurse, physician assistant, mental health professional, social worker, dentist, physical therapist, massage therapist, etc.

What is a healthcare provider?

To start your search, use the search bar at the top of the homepage. Enter your ZIP or postal code to see the providers nearest you. Enter a specialty or medical issue to refine the results. You can also search both location and specialty at the same time.
When your search results appear, use the dark blue refine search tab at the bottom of your browser to refine results further. You can sort by gender, sexual orientation, race &amp; ethnicity, language, approach, patient focus, accepted payment, and distance.
Click on the provider profiles to learn about their practice and find their contact information.
If you don’t see providers in your area, first check to make sure that you have the refine search features turned off, and search again based solely on location. If there are no results nearby, check back again soon. The directory launched summer 2022 and new providers are registering every day.

How do I search for a doctor or other healthcare provider on this site?

During sign-up, healthcare providers are asked to affirm their commitment to equality for LGBTQ+ patients. These <a href="https://hddhxsv5mrk9rt1gwnxq1yjqq.js.wpenginepowered.com/resources/glmas-affirmations-for-lgbtq-friendly-healthcare-providers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">affirmations</a> are based upon the best practices in LGBTQ+ culturally competent care for as many members of the community as possible.
When creating their profiles, healthcare providers are able to enter detailed information about themselves including accreditations and memberships, approaches, and depth of experience with specific communities.
We encourage people seeking care to review this information and choose with discernment. Profiles are created voluntarily by healthcare providers and are not individually screened or verified at sign-up. The LGBTQ+ Healthcare Directory cannot guarantee a positive experience or outcome.

How do you know these providers really are LGBTQ+ friendly? 

The LGBTQ+ Healthcare Directory is a free resource created by the <a href="http://teganandsarafoundation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tegan and Sara Foundation</a> and <a href="http://glma.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GLMA – Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality</a>. It was designed and built in 2022 with creative agency <a href="http://wideeye.co/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wide Eye</a>.
LGBTQ+ patients struggle to find healthcare providers who we can be open and honest with —free from fear of stigma or bias. The simple act of connecting patients with care is a solution to this problem. Years ago, GLMA (the world’s largest association of LGBTQ+ healthcare professionals) built the very first directory. Through their vast membership, the directory grew to be the most respected in the United States.
Together with LGBTQ+ health experts and community leaders, this invaluable resource has been updated with innovative search functionality, the highest standards of accessibility, and a new set of <a href="https://hddhxsv5mrk9rt1gwnxq1yjqq.js.wpenginepowered.com/resources/glmas-affirmations-for-lgbtq-friendly-healthcare-providers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">affirmations</a> of commitment to equality for LGBTQ+ patients.
