Andrew Yeung
I am a Family Medicine Resident at Sutter Sacramento Health System. I studied for my Bachelors of Arts and Science at UC San Diego in Music (Psychology of Music and the Mind) and Biology, where I developed an interest in balancing music with health. I was drawn to medicine after caring for my parents with terminal illnesses and empowering them to achieve the quality of life and quality of death they deserved. My work as a Peace Corps Community Health Volunteer in Nicaragua and Breastfeeding Promotion Research in Honduras also shaped my desire to work with the medically underserved Latinx populations (sí, hablo español) and support the queer/trans communities. I love family medicine because of the relationship building I can have with my patients, being able to care for the whole family unit, and the ability to advocate for community health equity. Family Medicine is also the perfect balance between my interests: Latinx/Spanish speaking and LGBTQIA+ populations locally and internationally, providing gender-affirming care, end-of-life counseling and hospice support, and family planning and procedures. I prioritize work-life balance, so whenever I can, I do the most! I travel internationally, do plenty of recreational sports (gymnastics, CrossFit, paddleboard, snowboarding in Tahoe, play in queer kickball and bowling leagues), or sing with the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus. I am ecstatic to be a part of the Sutter FMRP family!
