Asia Boyd
About Me I am a relationship-focused therapist who helps couples move beyond recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, communication breakdowns, and intimacy concerns. Many of the couples I work with care deeply about one another but have become stuck in patterns that leave both partners feeling unheard, rejected, frustrated, or alone. My work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment theory, and a sex-positive, culturally responsive approach to care. I help couples understand what is happening beneath the argument—not simply what they are arguing about—so they can begin creating safer communication, stronger emotional connection, and healthier patterns within their relationship. I welcome couples across identities, relationship structures, cultures, and backgrounds and provide LGBTQIA+ affirming care. About My Clients I work with couples and adults experiencing relationship distress, recurring conflict, emotional distance, communication difficulties, intimacy or sexual concerns, betrayal or infidelity, attachment wounds, and major life transitions. Some couples come to therapy because they are having the same argument over and over. Others feel more like roommates than partners, struggle to reconnect sexually or emotionally, or are trying to determine whether their relationship can heal after a significant rupture. I also enjoy working with premarital and committed couples who want to strengthen their relationship before concerns become crises. My clients do not have to be at the point of separation to benefit from therapy. Sometimes the goal is simply to understand one another differently, reconnect, and create a healthier way of being together. Background and Approach My clinical approach is collaborative, direct, compassionate, and relationship-centered. Rather than focusing only on surface-level communication techniques, I help clients identify the emotions, attachment needs, fears, and protective responses driving their relationship patterns. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy and attachment-based interventions, we explore the cycle that develops between partners and work toward replacing defensiveness, withdrawal, criticism, or escalation with greater emotional safety and responsiveness. When intimacy or sexual concerns are present, I approach those conversations without judgment and help couples explore the emotional, relational, and contextual factors affecting desire, connection, vulnerability, and satisfaction. My goal is not to decide who is right or wrong. The work is about helping each person understand the relationship pattern, take greater responsibility for their role in it, and develop a more secure and connected relationship.
