Damon Murphy

My name is Dr. Murphy and I am an gay African American licensed clinical psychologist both in Virginia and the District of Columbia. I am also able to practice in 43 other states via telehealth. I started working and studying in the field at the graduate level in 2005. My journey in this work was born very early in life as a youth growing up in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, New York. Due to experiencing the challenges of my various communities, I became interested in understanding how social forces shaped human beings on levels of race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, and disability. I work to provide high-quality sensitive care to my clients. The first session is the intake which is 90 minutes with the purpose assessing your presenting issues and background. The subsequent sessions after the intake are 50 minutes each. Throughout treatment we are collaboratively assessing progress and treatment according to objectives we set in the beginning. The goal is to build insight and facilitate lasting change. That's a little about me. I am hoping to find out about how I may help you.
