Emmanuel Santana
In my practice, Prism Therapy, I believe therapy is a space where you can slow down, feel understood, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships. I provide thoughtful, affirming, and culturally responsive therapy for adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem, identity, and major life transitions. My practice is grounded in interpersonal, psychodynamic, attachment-based, and trauma-informed approaches. I believe that many of the challenges we experience today are connected to patterns that developed through our earlier experiences and relationships. Therapy can help us understand those patterns, build greater self-awareness, and create healthier and more fulfilling ways of relating to ourselves and others. Diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility are central to my clinical work. As a bilingual Latino therapist, I value the ways that culture, race, identity, family, sexuality, gender, and lived experience shape our emotional wellbeing. Prism Therapy is an LGBTQIA+-affirming practice, and I strive to create a space where clients can feel seen, respected, and able to show up as their full selves. Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We'll talk about what you're experiencing, what you'd like to be different, and some of the experiences and relationships that have shaped you. I'll also explain how I approach therapy and answer any questions you may have about the process. While we may begin identifying patterns or themes right away, there is no expectation that you have everything figured out—or that you need to tell me everything in your first session. Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable being yourself. Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process, so our first session is also a chance for you to decide whether my approach feels like a good fit for you.
