Emrys Fonseca

I am a transgender and non-binary (agender spectrum/ transmasculine), queer (bisexual/ demisexual), non-citizen immigrant of color, practicing as an outpatient psychiatrist within the state of MN- both in person and virtually. My legal name is Fiona Fonseca, which is how I might show up from a licensure/ board certification standpoint. I am a physician with a background in counseling psychology and advanced training in psychotherapy. In my current role, I work as a psychiatrist within the transgender and intersex specialty care clinic as well as in the behavioral medicine practice, primarily seeing folks experiencing functional and somatic disorders and those navigating cancer diagnoses. I have had advanced training in working with these populations, including completing a general psychiatry residency program as well as a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry. In addition, I have received education and training in working with the BDSM and ENM community. I carry out research in areas related to my clinical practice, and have also presented at multiple local and national educational and community events on these topics.
