Erik Wert
Dr. Wert was born in Amsterdam NY. He received his Bachelors in Science (1995) from Union College in Schenectady NY. He majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. He then attend Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine graduating in 2000. Dr. Wert completed his internship at Ingham Regional Medical Center in 2001. Following his internship, Dr. Wert completed 2 years of General Surgery before transferring to Internal Medicine. Since 2005 Dr. Wert has practiced internal medicine in Lansing, MI. He has been providing care to the LGBTQ+ community during this entire time. Dr. Wert focuses have been in general primary care, sexual health, pre-exposure for HIV and HIV care. Dr. Wert returned to Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and obtained his Master in Public Health. Dr. Wert incorporates public health into his primary care. I Dr. Wert became certified in HIV medicine by the American Academy of HIV medicine (AAHIVM). Dr. Wert has spoken at local and State level events on LGBTQ+ healthcare. Also Dr. Wert practice focuses on sex positivity, prevention and alternative sexual practices. Dr. Wert conduct research with the The Alternative Sexual Research Alliance (TASHRA). Recently Dr. Wert was awarded a Gilead Pharmaceutical grant to study PrEP in the Kink/BDSM population.
