She/Her

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over two decades of experience in nursing, including trauma care, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive mental health care to all my patients. I began my career as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 2004 at Valleywise Health Medical Center, where I gained extensive experience working in various departments, with a particular focus on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). I hold a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification, reflecting my expertise and commitment to critical care nursing. Motivated by the noticeable lack of Spanish-speaking psychiatric providers, I decided to advance my degree and obtained my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Arizona. Following my graduation, I returned to Valleywise Health Medical Center to join their Psychiatric Consultation and Liaison Service. In this role, I was privileged to serve as the PMHNP for the Arizona Burn Center. My experience in trauma care, particularly in the context of burn patients, has given me a deep understanding of the psychological impact of traumatic events. This background informs my approach as a PMHNP, allowing me to provide specialized care to individuals experiencing trauma-related mental health issues, including PTSD. I now work in an outpatient facility, continuing my commitment to address mental health issues in a more accessible setting. On a personal note, my commitment to LGBTQ+ healthcare is deeply rooted in my life as the proud parent of a gay son. This personal connection drives my passion for advocating for the rights of LGBTQ+ patients, promoting inclusivity in healthcare environments, and addressing the health disparities that affect these communities. Joining GLMA is an exciting step for me as it aligns with my commitment to advancing equitable healthcare for LGBTQ+ communities. Through my involvement with GLMA, I look forward to collaborating with fellow health professionals to build a world where LGBTQ+ patients have equitable access to healthcare and where LGBTQ+ health professionals are respected and uplifted in their workplaces and educational settings.
