Dr. Hayden Shafer is an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center who provides care through the Program for LGBTQ Health called VIVID Health, specializing in delivery of primary care and gender affirming treatments across the state. He graduated from East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine in 2017, and he completed his residency training at the University of North Carolina in Family Medicine. He has also worked in Vanderbilt's acute care clinics through the COVID 19 pandemic as part of the outpatient COVID evaluation services. He has been featured on the medical education podcast "Primary Care Review and Perspectives", covering topics of LGBTQ+ care. A native of middle Tennessee, he and his partner James live in East Nashville with their dog Solas and two cats, Tom and Charles. In his free time, Dr. Shafer enjoys exploring Nashville's thriving culinary and drink scene and doing a little cooking of his own. He has a passion for video games, movies, and computers; a self-proclaimed "indoor enthusiast".
