Jared Boot-Haury

Jared (he/they) is a licensed clinical psychologist in San Francisco specializing in LGBTQ+-affirmative psychotherapy with extensive experience in helping clients navigate a variety of personal challenges. Currently working in private practice, Jared is dedicated to providing compassionate and affirmative care to LGBTQIA+ individuals, adult couples, and those dealing with identity, relationship, and mental health concerns. Jared is actively involved in advancing LGBTQ+ health and equality as a board member and president of the APA’s Society for Clinical Psychology Early Career Professionals and Graduate Students Section, and previously as the VP of Policy and Government Affairs for GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality. They are also a certified member and mentor of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), and a Certified Sex Therapist and Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor through AASECT, specializing in sex-positive, poly-friendly, and kink-aware therapy. In addition to their work with LGBTQIA+ clients, Jared is a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, helping individuals overcome struggles with eating disorders, body image issues, and weight/size stigma. They empower clients to develop positive relationships with their bodies and find joy in their relationships with food. Jared’s therapeutic approach is deeply person-centered and tailored to each individual’s unique needs. They integrate humanistic, feminist multicultural, and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) techniques into their practice, creating a supportive environment for healing and personal growth. For couples and relationship therapy, Jared’s preferred method is emotionally focused therapy (EFT), which helps couples strengthen their attachment bonds and improve relationship dynamics. With a warm, empathic, and collaborative approach, Jared strives to create an affirming space where clients can explore their identities, relationships, and mental health with confidence and support.
