Joe Lenhoff
I founded Houston Heights Therapy as a space where LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and trauma-affected adults don't have to explain or defend the basics of who they are before the real work can start. Affirming care here isn't a specialty checkbox — it's the baseline. Our team works from a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming frame, which means we adapt to how your brain and nervous system actually work rather than asking you to mask through sessions. A first visit is low-pressure and collaborative. We spend it getting to know you, what brought you in, and what you're hoping for — no rigid intake interrogation, no assumption that you already have it all figured out. You set the pace. If we're not the right fit, we'll help you find someone who is. Beyond individual therapy, we offer therapy groups (including Seeking Safety for trauma and coping), clinical supervision, and telehealth across Texas so you can meet from wherever you feel safest. We're in-network with Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Cigna/Evernorth, and Beacon. Whether you're navigating identity, processing trauma, or just tired of translating yourself for providers who don't get it — you're welcome here exactly as you are.
