John Olsen
Dr. John T. Olsen, D.O. — Psychiatrist | LGBTQ+ Affirming Provider As a practicing psychiatrist I am deeply committed to providing affirming, trauma-informed, and person-centered care to individuals across the LGBTQ+ spectrum. My clinical practice integrates evidence-based psychopharmacology with psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral frameworks, always tailored to the unique lived experiences of each patient. My approach to LGBTQ+ mental health care is grounded in cultural humility, informed by ongoing professional development, and enriched by years of experience working with gender-diverse, queer, and questioning individuals. I have completed continuing education in LGBTQ+ health disparities, gender-affirming care, and minority stress theory, including CME-accredited courses through the American Psychiatric Association and The Fenway Institute. In my work, I have provided psychiatric support for individuals navigating gender transition, identity formation, religious trauma, internalized stigma, and intersectional marginalization. I maintain an affirming stance toward all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures, and I welcome collaboration with affirming primary care providers, therapists, and advocacy organizations. I am proud to be an ally and advocate within my professional community and remain dedicated to fostering safety, dignity, and healing for all LGBTQ+ patients I serve.
