Kaylen Jasper
Therapy is a difficult journey that requires patience and determination. Being in therapy myself since my teen years gives me deeper empathy for the strength that it takes to even begin pursuing counseling. For that, I applaud you. As a therapist, my role is to walk beside you on that journey and guide you. Not pressure, judge, or decide for you, but to be there and provide a safe space as you pursue a healthier version of yourself. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, and religious trauma. I have experience using DBT, internal family systems, and existential therapy. I incorporate somatic and mindfulness practices into my work. I have a passion for working with the LGBTQIA+ community. I welcome any and all marginalized communities in my practice. I natively speak English. As a white queer lesbian, I believe that recognizing my inherent benefit from racism and colonialism was an extremely important step in my work towards anti-racism. I can accept that I will forever be learning what it means to be anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and how to decolonize my practice. However, that doesn’t give me an excuse to slack off. It motivates me to do my own work. For myself but also for my future clients. So that they don’t have to spend time worrying about if I’m going to dismiss them or ask them to explain concepts of discrimination they face. I can’t promise that I will be perfect. But I can promise to always strive to be better. I am willing to wear and can provide N-95 masks in session. My office is on the second floor, but I am able to offer tele-health sessions for anyone who needs them. I offer sensory friendly fidgets and lighting in my office.
