Krishna Vyas
Dr. Krishna Vyas, MD, PhD, MHS is a plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon in New York City, specializing in breast and body aesthetics, including breast reductions, augmentations, lifts, gender-affirming chest masculinization and feminization top surgery, and body contouring. Dr. Vyas has unique expertise in breast and nipple sensory nerve preservation and restoration, a technique intended to provide protective sensation and to prevent pain, and in the surgical treatment of headache disorders including occipital neuralgia. Dr. Vyas trained at Harvard, Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and the University of Kentucky, completing fellowships with The Aesthetic Society in Manhattan and at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was appointed as Instructor at Mayo Clinic and as Assistant in Surgery at Harvard Medical School, where he taught plastic surgery to medical students and residents. Dr. Vyas earned a PhD in Clinical and Translational Science with Honors, focusing on fat grafting, stem cell biology, regenerative therapies, and safety in breast aesthetics and reconstruction. He also earned a Master’s in Immunology and Microbiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he studied transplantation immunology and vaccine science. He has continued research affiliations with Harvard and Mayo Clinic in the fields of plastic surgery and regenerative medicine and dermatology. During residency at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Vyas held multiple leadership roles, serving as President of the Residents and Fellows Association, Chair of the Tri-Site Young Investigators Research Symposium, and as a Board Member of both the Graduate Medical Education Committee and the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association (representing over 25,000 members in 80+ countries). He also led subcommittees dedicated to education, diversity and inclusion, research, quality improvement, international outreach, and advocacy at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education. He was recently appointed to a six-year term as Board Member of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association. Dr. Vyas has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and international presentations on topics including face transplantation, regenerative medicine, stem cells and fat grafting, breast surgery, and aesthetic surgery, and serves as editor and on the editorial boards of several leading medical journals and educational platforms. His clinical practice is based in Manhattan, where he holds privileges at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital (MEETH), Lenox Hill Hospital Upper East Side and Greenwich Village, Northwell Health, and several surgery centers. An active member of the global surgical community, Dr. Vyas is a Candidate Member of several societies, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS), New York State and Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons (NYSSPS and NYRSPS), The Aesthetic Foundation, World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons (NESPS), Mass General Brigham Alumni Association (MGBAA), International Society of Plastic Regenerative Surgeons (ISPRS), American Council of Educators in Plastic Surgery (ACEPS), Surgeons in Humanitarian Alliance for Reconstruction, Research and Education (SHARE), and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS).
