Kurt Palumbo
I am an experienced clinician with a history of organizational leadership, ongoing clinical research pursuits, and a life-long commitment to serving and supporting patients from every walk of life regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. As an infectious diseases (ID) provider, I provide medical care to patients with various bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections both in and outside of the hospital. More specifically, I focus on treating infections pertaining to patients who actively inject drugs and patients with substance use disorders. I currently serve as the lead site clinician for a NIDA-funded clinical trial looking at a combined ID and substance use disorder care model for patients who inject drugs. Aside from this work, I am passionate about multi-drug resistant infections, antimicrobial stewardship, PA student education, PA career betterment, and LGBTQIA+ affirming medical care. As a harm reductionist, I strive to meet patients where they are along their healthcare journey and collaborate with them to provide the best care possible.
