Lance Lary

Hi, my name is Lance. I’m a part of the LGBTQ+ community and we I provide individual counseling in an LGBTQ+ affirmative environment. I focus on telemental health and online services. I treat LGBTQ+ clients with respect and dignity and affirm that they are fine just the way they are. I have worked with clients across the lifespan (children to older adults) to solidify healthier self-identity. I have assisted clients with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, self-image, body-image, communication, motivation, relationship issues, gender identity, and the coming out process. Additionally, I have experience helping individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder successfully explore their gender identity in counseling sessions. I employ a combination of theoretical orientations to assist clients using a client-centered approach. I believe success in therapy comes from the client taking an active role in their own treatment. Through this approach, a client may manage their own growth and development, reduce their stressful feelings, increase their openness to new experiences, and build self-esteem. My goal is for clients to positively define themselves and to ultimately embrace themselves as the special and unique individuals they are. Outside of the office, you will find me and my husband hiking, playing with my rescue dogs, and cheering for the University of Alabama football team.
