Lauren Colbert
lauren colbert, MA, LCMHCA Lauren Colbert (she/her) is a queer Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate who specializes in working with queer and trans folks, as well as individuals navigating developmental and complex trauma, PTSD, and identity exploration. Her approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed, helping clients build greater self-understanding, resilience, and self-trust. Lauren is trained in EMDR and integrates evidence-based approaches to support healing and growth for adolescents and adults across North Carolina through telehealth. She is passionate about creating affirming spaces where clients can show up fully as themselves and feel supported in exploring their identities, experiences, and healing. Lauren strives to create a therapy space where clients feel seen, affirmed, and empowered to reconnect with themselves and move toward the lives they want to live. Lauren believes therapy should be collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in respect for each person’s lived experience. She works with clients to better understand how past experiences—particularly trauma and identity-related stress—can influence present patterns while building tools for resilience, self-trust, and meaningful change. She has experience working in a variety of clinical settings, including residential, outpatient, school-based, and in-home environments. These experiences have shaped her flexible and relational approach to therapy and deepened her commitment to meeting clients where they are in their healing journey. Lauren is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrates trauma-informed and person-centered approaches to support clients in processing difficult experiences and moving toward greater emotional freedom. She particularly enjoys working with clients navigating developmental trauma, complex trauma, identity development, and the unique challenges that queer and trans individuals may experience. She accepts many North Carolina insurance plans and provides telehealth and in-person therapy options to increase accessibility across the state.
