Mark McDonald
Dr. McDonald is a board-certified radiation oncologist whose clinical practice focuses on the care of patients with skull base, head and neck, and gastrointestinal cancers. He has more than 13 years experience with proton therapy, an advanced radiation modality which can better spare healthy tissues and organs from radiation, potentially reducing or avoiding the short- and long-term side effects of treatment. He is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine and serves as the Medical Director of the Emory Proton Therapy Center. In addition to his primary practice at the Emory Proton Therapy Center, Dr. McDonald sees patients in consultation at the Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Clinic at Emory University Hospital Midtown. Dr. McDonald previously served as director of the residency program in the Department of Radiation Oncology. As a faculty teacher, he has twice been selected by the department's resident physicians as the "Educator of the Year," in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
