Matt Leshchiner
I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I treat all forms of mental illness from mild anxiety to schizophrenia. Based on the numbers, the difference I treat most often is bipolar disorder, and I am skilled at finding the right medication or combination of medications to keep my patients on an even keel with minimal side effects. Treating the LGBTQ community has always been a big part of my practice, from when I was a floor nurse through to today. My office is a welcoming environment for all people no matter who they are or where they are from. I have many autistic patients, and many of them come to me because I don't see autism as a disease that needs to be treated. Autism is a difference that has to be managed. Sometimes that might mean a medication to deal with a symptom, but it can also mean accommodations to your work environment or changes to your routine. I am very-much against treating to a diagnosis or using algorithms or decision-trees. Each individual is a universe and deserve their own treatment plan that is unique to them and their needs.
