Michael Yeboah
Hi everyone! My name is Michael Yeboah (he/him) and I am a Family Medicine nurse practitioner here in Sacramento, CA. As a gay man who has had to struggle to find LGBTQ+ affirming providers who understood my needs and didn’t make me feel embarrassed or ashamed for advocating for myself, I hope to ease that burden for my community fellows in turn. I currently provide office and virtual services in: family medicine, HIV PreP, PEP, DoxyPEP, STI screening and treatment, Gender Affirming Care (including hormones/referrals to gender clinic for affirmation surgery), weight management, and Substance Use Disorder treatment to name a few. Academically I have a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Samuel Merritt University, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern California (USC), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Coast University. I have completed post-graduate fellowships in Primary Care Pain Management from the University of California-Davis, Addiction Medicine from the University of California-Irvine, and am completing a fellow ship in Primary Care Psychiatry also from the University of California-Irvine. In addition to my certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I am a certified Ambulatory Care Nurse and licensed as a Public Health Nurse. As an educator, I teach advanced clinical courses for nurse practitioner students, chair for doctoral projects, supervise preceptorships for nurse practitioner students, as well as teach in a preparatory program for advanced practice national board exams. My care philosophy: “As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I am passionate about shared decision making, patient empowered care, and providing a safe and non-judgmental space. I encourage all my patients and families to be well-informed and active members in their own health care team. It is my belief that sometimes education and preventative medicine can be more important and more powerful than a written prescription alone.” Looking forward to partnering with you wherever you are in your healthcare journey!
