Nakita Noel Mitchell
I am a queer, Black, woman therapist. I practice therapy through a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, decolonizing lens, which affirms and celebrates racial/ethnic minorities and Indigenous peoples; queer, trans, and gender nonconforming folx; disabled individuals; and neurodiverse/neuroexceptional people. My expertise is in helping folks navigate life transitions; cancer or other serious, chronic illness (as the patient or family member); bereavement and complex grief; relationship and family conflict; parenting and caregiver stress; self-esteem injury; anxiety; and helping profession burnout (e.g. physicians and other medical providers, nurses, social workers, psychologists, including students of the aforementioned professions). I encourage my clients to come to sessions as their full, unedited, unmasked selves. I believe all of their parts— born of personal traits and lived experiences— are valuable and necessary in their journeys to healing, wellness, and growth.
