Philip Hughes
I am an independently licensed therapist in private practice (Philosophy Counseling & Consulting, LLC) in Ohio, dedicated to providing a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space for individuals across the LGBTQ+ community. My work is rooted in authenticity, compassion, and respect for each person’s unique identity and lived experience. I strive to create an environment where clients feel seen, heard, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward meaningful change. My practice focuses on supporting individuals with concerns related to anxiety, stress, body image, weight loss, relationships, and life transitions/issues. I also have a strong interest in working with individuals navigating food and weight concerns, including those who are preparing for or adjusting to life after bariatric surgery. As someone who understands aspects of this journey personally, I bring both professional expertise and genuine empathy into the therapeutic space. In our first session, clients can expect a welcoming and collaborative experience. We’ll spend time getting to know each other, discussing what brings you to therapy, and identifying your goals. I aim to create a comfortable, conversational atmosphere where you can move at your own pace without pressure. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine if I’m the right fit for your needs. My therapeutic style is warm, down-to-earth, and engaging, often incorporating humor when appropriate to help build connection and ease. I draw from evidence-based approaches while tailoring treatment to each individual, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all path to growth. I value building strong therapeutic relationships and believe that trust and collaboration are key components of effective therapy. Services I provide include individual therapy for adults, with a focus on anxiety management, body image concerns, relationship issues, and support for bariatric patients both pre- and post-operatively. I offer a space where clients can explore identity, build coping skills, and develop a stronger sense of self with confidence and clarity. Above all, my goal is to help clients feel empowered, understood, and supported as they move toward a more fulfilling and authentic life.
