Ray Power

My Background: Hi, I’m Ray Power (they/them/he/she). I am a white, queer, transmasculine, genderfluid, autistic/ADHDer, polyamorous, relationship anarchist, mostly able-bodied counselor-in-training. I am an intern counselor obtaining my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University in Seattle. I believe these identities are important to share, as evaluating where intersecting identities may be similar or differ is essential for understanding and examining places of power, privilege, marginalization, and cultural norms. I have experience in the service industry, community outreach, mental health support, education, and social-emotional play-based learning for neurodiverse youth. I show up with embodied authenticity, striving to empower and uplift others across all spheres of life. I enjoy yoga, astrology, dancing, music, spending time in nature, being a cat dad, writing poetry, drag, journaling, and connecting. My Approach to Therapy: I approach therapy from a humanistic person-centered perspective, meaning you are the expert on your own life and we will work collaboratively on working through what you wish to bring into the space in ways that align with your healing. I focus on empowering clients with emphasis on relationality and collective healing from a trauma-informed lens. I believe no one approach works for everyone, and take an eclectic approach to therapy, integrating modalities such as mindfulness, somatics, existentialism, narrative, relational cultural theory, expressive arts, and internal family systems. I am happy to dive deeper on what these mean and might look like in practice over consultation, intake, and/or session. If mindfulness practices jive for you, I love integrating short meditations and grounding exercises into sessions! I am here to meet you wherever you are in your healing journey.
