Reianna Garner
The first session is a bit different than the rest—and yes, it can feel a little “question-heavy.” That’s intentional. We’ll cover background information, what’s bringing you in, what you’ve already tried, and what you actually want to get out of therapy. You don’t have to impress me, have the “right” answers, or explain your identity in a polished way. Messy is welcome here. My job is to understand you—not judge you. We’ll also talk about how I work so you know what to expect moving forward. My practice is grounded in DBT, trauma-informed care, and nervous system education. I work with people who feel a lot—intensely, quickly, and sometimes all at once. That includes folks navigating trauma, identity exploration, relationship dynamics, emotional dysregulation, and the general exhaustion of existing in systems that weren’t built with them in mind. I take a very real, human approach to therapy. That means I will fully validate your experience while also gently challenging the patterns that are keeping you stuck. I incorporate practical skills (not just talking in circles), psychoeducation, and a bit of humor when appropriate—because therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical and cold to be effective. I’m a telehealth-only provider, which means you can show up as you are—hoodie, blanket, emotional support pet included. I also work hard to create a space that feels explicitly affirming for LGBTQIAA+ clients without making you feel like you have to educate me or defend your identity. I’m also very transparent. If something isn’t working, we talk about it. If you’re feeling stuck, we look at it together. You’re not going to get a blank stare and a “how does that make you feel?” on repeat. In addition to individual therapy, I offer DBT-informed skills work, psychoeducation around trauma and the nervous system, and support with building practical coping strategies you can actually use in real life. I also have experience working with high-risk populations and more intensive emotional needs, while still maintaining a collaborative, non-pathologizing approach. When appropriate, I can coordinate care, provide resources, and help you build a support system that extends beyond session time.
