Ron Henson

I’m Ron Henson, LCPC, MA CMHC, owner of In Situ Counseling & Coaching in Alton, Illinois. I provide affirming, collaborative therapy for LGBTQIA+ clients navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD and executive functioning challenges, burnout, relationship concerns, identity exploration, self-esteem, trauma, and major life transitions. My approach is active, practical, and human. I work to create a space where clients can speak openly without having to over-explain themselves, while also helping them better understand patterns, build useful coping skills, and make meaningful changes in their lives. I integrate person-centered therapy with evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, and other interventions based on each client’s needs. I work with teens ages 14+, adults, couples, college students, professionals, and people who may be trying therapy for the first time. I also have a particular interest in men’s mental health, neurodivergence, relationships, and helping clients who have felt misunderstood or uncomfortable in more traditional therapy settings. I offer in-person counseling in Alton, IL and telehealth throughout Illinois, with evening and weekend availability. My goal is to provide therapy that is affirming without being performative, clinically grounded without feeling overly clinical, and focused on helping clients build lives and relationships that feel more authentic and sustainable.
