Ryan Smith
Ryan Smith, MD is a resident physician in the primary care internal medicine residency program and resident in the HIV training track practicing primary care at the Nathan Smith Clinic. As a physician, he believes in the holistic care of every individual. With the provider serving as a guide and coach, complete healthcare integrates medicine as needed with mental health, social support and any additional resources individual patients require. In addition to his clinical practice, he is a researcher and educator. his academic work primarily focuses on identifying disparities in care and educational settings especially for marginalized communities. With a special attention given to psychology and modern neuroscience, he tailors interventions meant to disrupt white hegemony and promote the diversity and inclusion of historically discriminated groups. Dr. Smith is a tireless advocate for the LGBTQ community. He does not settle for subpar or inappropriate care for his patients. He acknowledges that each person is an individual with different needs, deserving of respect and full attention, and when appropriate the care and advice of additional providers and resources are sought to ensure comprehensive wellness care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys being outdoors, night time photography, and gardening.
