Rys Petersen
I work as a certified medical assistant for a gender-affirming & trans healthcare focused department. We provide gender-affirming hormone therapy, long-acting hormone therapy options, care navigation services, affirming surgery & coordination, some sexual health & reproductive care, plus various other bits and bobs. I have been working in gender-affirming, sexual, and reproductive healthcare since graduation of my CMA program. I went back to school with goals of working in this field, and once I was working primarily with trans patients, I knew there was no going back for me. The clinicians I work with directly, and some indirectly, provide gender-affirming care, but they are also a mixture of different specialties. Many of these providers can provide primary care alongside hormone care, or other aspects of gender-affirming care. We have specialists in Internal, Infectious Disease, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, and HIV Medicine. We also have a network of clinicians who do not manage hormone care, but practice many more specialties and specific care.
