Sally Harney
I work with teens (12+) and adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward due to anxiety, trauma, identity questions, or major life transitions. Many are navigating depression, abuse, executive functioning challenges, or concerns related to gender identity and self-worth. I offer in-person sessions in Fairfax, Virginia, and virtual therapy throughout Virginia, Washington D.C., and Colorado. I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients and provide affirming, evidence-based care grounded in current clinical standards. My training allows us to move directly into meaningful therapeutic work, without needing to justify or explain who you are. My work is informed by WPATH standards of care and grounded in trauma-informed and Autism-informed practice. For my Autistic clients, I take a social model approach, supporting navigation of a neurotypical world without pathologizing neurodivergence. My approach is person-centered and shaped by my background in sociology. I recognize how families, communities, and larger systems influence how we cope and see ourselves. I aim to create a grounded, affirming space where clients can build insight, strengthen self-advocacy, and move toward living more fully on their own terms.
