Samuel Weiss
A first session with me will be an opportunity for us to build the foundation for our relationship. I am another human sharing space with you, acknowledging that you are the expert on your life and I am just a fellow traveler along your path. I believe that the most important building block for therapy is a strong therapeutic relationship, and I really take my time in getting to know you and your goals. I am a client-centered clinician, and I consider my therapy style to be collaborative. I will be transparent and caring in my observations, and relish those opportunities to build insight, reflect, and grow. My favorite modality is IFS. I love it because it feels like a playground where we get to explore your inner world and reconnect with parts of you that may have gone quiet but yearn to be heard again. Most of my work with clients is informed by my own experience, especially when working with trans/gender non-conforming folx. I have led groups for individuals beginning their gender transition over the age of 30 and for partners of trans adults. I started my transition when I was 29 and I thoroughly enjoy giving back to my community, especially right now. I know how difficult it can be to navigate the world as a trans person, and I am honored every time I get to hold a safe space for someone just looking to be accepted as themselves. When I'm not being a therapist, I love playing video games, watching reality tv shows, listening to music (especially emo), and playing with my son!
