Scott Nelson

Hi, my name is Scott, and I'm a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving clients in Colorado. I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, burnout, college and graduate student mental health, depression, LGBTQIA, gender and sexuality topics, life coaching, life transitions, men’s issues, race and cultural identity, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), sleep disorders, stress management. I’ve been in nursing for 12 years and completed my master’s and psychiatric training at Frontier Nursing University. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected, and cared for. My therapeutic style is characterized by warmth, engagement, and a genuine personal connection. I believe in establishing a strong, collaborative relationship with each client, where we work together to make informed decisions about their treatment. I chose to be a psych NP because after working in psychiatric emergency services and inpatient psychiatric units for years I aspire to help people to build skills and avoid crises as a Nurse Practitioner, that is what drove me into this profession. My practice is inclusive and welcoming, embracing diversity in culture, background, and experience. I have worked with a wide range of clients, including students, parents, professionals from various fields, skilled tradespeople, service industry workers, retail employees, entrepreneurs, artists, and technology experts. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space where each individual feels heard, understood, and empowered to achieve their therapeutic goals. Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process. I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care.
