Steven Butler

Hi folks! My name is Steven (known professionally as Steven Butler, the Big Friendly Therapist). I use he/him or he/they pronouns. I’m located in what settlers know as Saint John, NB. I would like to respectfully share that I live and practice as a guest on the unsurrendered and unceded Traditional lands of Wolastoqiyik and Maliseet peoples. I am a licensed counselling therapist (LCT) with the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick, and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I am a member of WPATH and have WPATH certified training and follow the most recent version of the Standards of Care (SoC8). I offer mental health services through a queer theory, affirmative, person-centred, trauma-informed lens to care. During sessions we will work together to create goals, foster resilience, gain skills and coping strategies to empower you to work towards change and combat symptoms to ultimately improve your well-being. I am also EMDR trained and offer this service for folks who want to process trauma. Sessions are 50-55 minutes. I do offer a free 15-minute consultation call to have you see if I might be a good fit for your care. I can accept clients who reside in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. Feel free to reach out if you feel I might be a good fit for you.
