Tex Gibson
In my work, I utilize a holistic and adaptive integrative model of therapy to accommodate each client’s unique experiences, needs, and goals for therapy. I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment, and value the importance of the therapeutic relationship so you can move forward with confidence. Beyond easing the challenges that brought them to therapy, my clients leave our work together feeling empowered, confident, and capable—armed with practical tools and fresh perspectives to shape their lives in ways that truly reflect who they want to be. Experience: I’ve worn a lot of hats—and loved every minute of it. I’ve been a clerk, vineyard worker, runway model, licensed massage therapist, ambulatory surgical medical assistant, fine artist and painter, sex worker, sex and kink educator, intimacy coach for individuals and couples, and a guest speaker for New York–based sex-positive and BDSM organizations since 2001. These diverse experiences supported me as I pursued a psychology degree at The New School before a theoretical and philosophical shift toward understanding the “person in their environment” led me to earn an advanced degree in social work from Lehman University. Since then, I’ve worked in both public policy and private practice, providing competent and affirming care to clients across the gender, sexuality, and neurodiversity spectrums. In 2022, I expanded my impact by founding Blue Canary Therapy to support more clinicians in offering affirming care to my beloved—but often underserved—alt communities. Identities Held: Leftist liberationist, feminist, neurospicy, physically disabled, FLR kinkster, pansexual, genderqueer fyke, non-monogamous, white, nerd/learner, plant whisperer, nature lover, bookworm and story lover, creative/maker, mentor/teacher, grief ambassador Client Focus: Adult individuals, platonic peers, couples, and multi-partner relationships Types of Therapy: Integrative Therapy Style, IFS-informed trauma therapy, Brainspotting, CBT, Premarital and Marital, CBT, Attachment, Psychodynamic, Emotionally Focused Therapy
