Tyler Coy
Tyler (Ty) Coy is a Licensed Social Worker and holds a Master's in Social Work from Ohio State University and a B.A. in Sociology from Kent State University. He has worked in a variety of settings including research, government and community relations, and private practice. He has experience working with individuals experiencing a variety of life challenges including anxiety, depression, ADHD, exploring gender identity and expression, life adjustments/transitions, and relationship, sexual and intimacy challenges. Also a Registered Yoga Teacher, Ty incorporates evidence-based mindfulness approaches into sessions as appropriate. Ty brings a person-centered, humanistic, existential approach to therapy through acceptance and commitment, cognitive-behavioral, motivational, and mindfulness-based methods. This may include developing a heightened awareness of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By embracing our nature, practicing mindfulness and self-compassion, and living in line with our values, we may cultivate more meaningful lives and communities. As an advocate for marginalized and minoritized communities, Ty employs an LGBTQ+ affirmative and racial and social justice-oriented approach. As a queer, millennial, white person living with ADHD, they acknowledge their intersecting identities and how they may inform their clinical practice. As such, they commit to the lifelong practice of cultural humility by examining their own beliefs and identities, and they strive to understand and celebrate clients’ beliefs and cultural identities. Ty enjoys studying law, being outdoors, practicing yoga, laughing hard, and enjoying good food and good company. Ty's pronouns are he/they. Ty sees clients in-person and virtually.
