Virginia Griesheimer

Hello! My name is Virginia and I specialize in supporting individuals through some of life’s most challenging and traumatic experiences. My background has centered on partnering with survivors of crime and abuse such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking to reestablish a sense of safety, dignity, and empowerment, as well as supporting sex workers and individuals affected by systemic harms like racial trauma, poverty, and houselessness. I am also deeply committed to providing compassionate support to individuals navigating significant life transitions including sandwich generation caregivers, individuals grappling with body grief due to chronic health conditions, Parkinson's disease and aging, and those experiencing prolonged grief following loss. I hold a BA in Psychology from Iowa State University and an MSW from the Columbia School of Social Work. My values are grounded in the principles of anti-racism, LGBTQIA2S+ allyship, and mind-body-spirit social work. I firmly believe in the inherent resilience within all individuals and that you are the expert in your own life. My approach to therapy is eclectic and fluid to best meet the needs of each person regardless of whether we meet in person or via telehealth.
