William Elder
Hi, I'm Will; I look forward to getting to know you. Although you might be going through a difficult time, you'll likely remember this as the moment everything changed for the better. I'll teach you strategies, based in science, to get better results at work, home, and in your relationships. We'll practice these new techniques so you feel confident using them on your own. I'll adjust our approach according to your unique identities, lived experiences, and values (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation identity, religious affiliation, relationships) to make you feel most understood. I use cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) that we know work. These skills will help you overcome life problems now, and equip you to resolve future problems, too. While handling emotions in a new way might feel strange, I’ll be there to walk you through the process. With time, you'll intuitively manage emotions more smoothly and effectively. I did a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Utah, a trauma psychology fellowship at the South Texas VA, and am a professor at the UT Medical School of San Antonio. I love fitness, cooking (I never thought I'd say that), and exploring small Texas towns. To learn more about me, please visit my website: sugarvalleytherapy.com
